Uncovered is a non-fiction account of the author’s struggle for equality and the right to control her own destiny in an Islamic culture where women are treated as chattels. She was the eldest of eight children in an impoverished, Muslim family. As many as 13 family members slept on a cement floor in a two-room apartment with no furniture and no flush-toilet. She was set upon as a child by the elders of her own family when she refused to cover herself in a burqa. She stood up to agents of the Ayatollah Khomeini when they demanded she spy upon the Swiss Embassy where she was employed. Uncovered is a guided tour of the torturous ordeal of her journey from childhood in Pakistan to her ultimate success in America.

SHE QUICKLY PROVED TO BE A VERY EFFECTIVE PERSON AND WASD AN IMPORTANT MEMBER ER OF OUR GROUP. SHE WAS HIGHLY INTELIGET]NT, AMBITIOUSL. AND WELL LIKED. SHE LIVED WITH HER SISTER AND FATHER WHO WORKED IN THE PAKISTANI EMBESSY.. LIVING CONDITION WERE VERY POOR FOR HER FAMILY. SARAH HAD A PLAN TO EVENTUALLUY MIGRATE TO T HE US AND ACCOMPLISSHED IN UNDER GREAT DISTRESS.. SHE WORKEED FOR US APPROXIMATE A YEAR AND THEN WAS FORCED TO CHANGE JOBS DUE TO SOME BEUROCRATIC BUNGLING.THE CONTRACT WITH IRAN FELL A PART AT THE END OF 1988. AMERICAN BELL WAS DISCONTINUED. SARAH COULD ONLY HAVE A JOB IN IRAN THAT WAS ENVOLED IN A FOREIGN OFFICEGOVERNMENT ACTIVITY. AFTER ABOUT TWO YEARS SARAH VISITED THE UNITED STATES AND AME TO OUR HOMES TO VISIT IN THE U.S. SHE FOUND WORK CALIF AND SENT TRHU THE PROCESS OF GETTING A WORK PREMIT. SHJE BECAME A VERY SUCCESSFUL REAL ESTATE AGENT IN CALIFAND MANAGED TO GET HER FAMILY MOVED TO TH STATES INCLUDING HER PARENT.SARAH IS ONE OF THE MOST QUALIFIED AND SUCCESSFUL PERSONS ,KOW. SHE IS VERY SUCCESSFUL IN THE REAL ESTATE BUSINESS IN THECALILORNIA AREA. IT IS ONLY THRU HER EXTREME INTELLIGECE AMBISHION AND DRIVE THAT SHE HAS CARRIED HER FAMILY ON HER BACK PLUS HAS BUILT AN EXCELLNT REAL ESTATE CO. OF HER OWN. SHE IS A LADY IAM PROUD TO CALL A FRIEND. SHE HAS HAD A VERY DIFFICULT LIFE BUT HAS FOUND THE COURAGE AND DRIVE TO BE A SUCESSFUL PERSON WHILE HELPING HER FAMILY

It was amazing learning about Sarah Darabi's personal life story and the hardships she faced during her journey from childhood in Pakistan to her ultimate success in America.
It takes lots of courage to put a story like this in words and get it published... she has once again proven she's a courageous woman by writing it all down.
Being a muslim, I can relate with the pain she has gone through in her life. Being born in a strictly religious family, you are not even allowed to dream about independence and freedom.
As a woman you have to be submissive. That's a cultural demand in most muslim countries. Most of the times, muslim countries want to focus more on religious laws and less on human rights.
I finished the book in two days, spending all of Valentine's day reading it as I couldn't put it down... it was that interesting. I highly recommend that you read it!
Amazing story. Remarkable woman.
Good book to help understand a woman's plight in the Middle East. There are a lot of grammatical errors in the book. Some were distracting. Perhaps a second edition will be improved.
Sarah's book "Uncovered" is fascinating. Her biography shows her struggle for equality and the right to control her own future in a Muslim culture. This book stays true to its title and comes from a very honest perspective. A strife that we commonly forget is happening even now to young women all over the world. During my read, I never felt Sarah was reaching for any self pity or mournfulness . Instead she writes from a positive stand point where her courage and perseverance shines through.
i read this book with passion. Normally,, i am not a reader as much as I am listener, but this book kept me engrossed in it.
The way the author has described her process and life in Iran and how she struggled through to reach the shores of US and now a successful
Realtor, speaks volumes for the author. I am an immigrant myself and in our land of opportunity, one can reach the skies if one wants to, and Sarah with her hard work and ambitious nature, not only excelled in her profession, but gave us this book to reflect on how one can face the turbulence of the life and still come on top.
I have recommended this book to my friends and colleagues and I am sure whosoever reads this book, will be very much impressed
The author, Sara Darabi, this young woman who built her personality since childhood, by fighting and defying the economic difficulties and the imposed socio-cultural requirements, both in her homeland and abroad, takes us with herself through her frank and sincere narration, to a long journey of a life full of ups and downs, tears and smiles,..., rowing against the current, but always with strength and conviction, aiming to freedom. The Freedom, an undeniable essential basic right that everybody is entitled to enjoy.
And finally she achieved her goal freedom and success.
