I didn't really like this story line at all. I felt like there was too much whining from Joe about his dead wife and really wasn't very much about how Nick felt or what he felt about how Joe treated him. I didn't really get that Joe really cared as much about Nick as Nick did about Joe. I thought that it should have been Nick who took off to live as a wolf instead of Joe. I would have like for Nick to be the one who had to get away to decide what he wanted to do whether to stay or leave not Joe...it should have been Nick's turn to decide if he wanted a relationship with Joe or not...after all Joe left Nick to be with the woman and Nick had lived with that. I think Joe wanted Nick at his disposal when he wanted something but still be able to keep Nick at a distance...like I said he was very selfish he didn't think of Nick's feelings at all.....he was married and but he dreamed of Nick then he was mad because Nick wasn't hanging on to him like he did before he was married. Joe wanted his wife but he also wanted to keep Nick on a string too....like I said stuck on himself.Nick should have felt betrayed or angry with what Joe did not just be in Joe's shadow. I didn't really get the sense of Joe really loving Nick, I don't even think Joe ever said he really loved Nick, Nick said it to him several times but I don't remember Joe telling him he loved him, like I said he was more concerned about people not thinking he loved his wife because he was in a thing with Nick which he kept rubbing into Nick's face about how much he loved her when he left Nick for her in the first place....selfish and inconsiderate at best....Nick could have done better.....should have had someone else be his love interest not Joe... He deserved better!!!

Splintered Lies In The Shadow Of The Wolf Book 3 edition by RJ Scott Diane Adams Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I wish I had reread the previous book... I didn't remember as much as I could have!
I really like the world RJ and Diane created, the drama between the shifters and non shifters is perfect. Joe is so tortured by the death of his wife, Nick hangs in there so patiently. The sex between them, when it does happen, is explosive and wonderful.
Great plot, great writing, and great characters. With of course, a great ending!
“Tell Nick—sorry.” And he ran.
Joe losing his wife and unborn child broke my heart. Wanting revenge and being emotionally unstable were to be expected. Nick, his best friend, is just an all around great guy who has always loved Joe. Nick wanted more from Joe. Unfortunately Joe chose Mara and I'm still not sure why he chose her over Nick. I found both Joe and Nick to be believable given the situation.
I personally believe people can love and even be in love with more than one person if they let themselves.
Joe leaned down and nuzzled Nick’s ear. “I love you. I always have, maybe in a different way while I had Mara, but I’ve never stopped loving you.”
There was a lot of ups and downs of emotions which kept the two from having steamy love scenes like the second book had. I'm grateful the authors gave Joe time to figure out what he wanted and Nick time to realize he would never let Joe go without a fight again.
“I know that, Nick, you never did anything but accept defeat gracefully. You never fought for me at all.” Joe shrugged and gave a faint smile.
The ending comes together nicely for both characters, but now I want to know Mark and Corbin's future. Rob, Jamie, Doug, and Sam are all in this story and help with figuring out what happened to Sam, and Joe's pregnant wife.
I received this book for an honest review. This book was read and reviewed by Arlyna for Alpha Book Club.
This entire series was top notch. Great emotional plot in this last book and, once gain, very fresh and detailed world building. I grew to love these characters and I'm sad that it's over. I highly recommend this series.
The last book of the series brought the overall plot to a compelling conclusion excellent very well written. The collection was awesome to read. Splintered Lies is worth the read.
I don't like how Joe treated Nick. They were together then not then kind of together then not again after Nick almost dies...it's insulting how easily Nick takes him back. Joe was a selfish jerk. I'm not convinced he loves Nick at all.
I have to say after reading this book I agree with another reviewer. I just wasn't convinced Joe loved Nick. I get that Joe is grieving, so his anger wasn't my problem. I can even understand Nick taking a lot of it as Joe was still grieving. It just felt like joe was the only person who was allowed to feel pain. Nick barely expressed any hurt or pain, just understanding. His character did not seemed fleshed out in its own right but as a second to Joe.
There was just nothing in this that convinced me that Joe actually saw Nick as anything more than the person who had always been there for him. And quite frankly there was nothing in this book that actually showed Nick as more than the person who had always been waiting for Joe. It was the Joe show and Nick was just lucky to be there.
Joe wanted his wife but he also wanted to keep Nick on a string too....like I said stuck on himself.
Nick should have felt betrayed or angry with what Joe did not just be in Joe's shadow.
